Amazing steakhouse! The menu is not big, but it’s perfect. I found this place for my hubby as he is a big steak fan, but I must admit I never eat steak. However, as most options were for two, and my hubby had his heart set on the Tomahawk, I just decided to go for it. The good part for me was that they could cook it to different temps, so we did 60% medium rare and 40% medium. Make a reservation well in advance as the place only has 10 tables. Amazing restaurant since the reception until leaving! We were received with a warning smile from Jessica and a welcome drink while we waited for our table to be ready. The service was brilliantly provided by Bernardino, giving us excellent advice on what to order always with patience and a smile and a very warming and friendly approach, making us feel like at home, surrounded by old friends. The food is divine, perfectly prepared, simply the best! The staff is 100% focused on providing the best food and experience. Only reason I didn't give a 5.0 is because the Oven Rice was undercooked and crunchy. Aside from that, this establishment was top notch! From the lovely host who brought us champagne when we arrived early to our server, Juan, who is one of the best at his job in the entire world. Aside from the Oven Rice, everything we ordered was excellent. I cannot recommend one dish, because there was not one dish I was say was the best we ever had, but it was all very good and I would eat there again. Even the Sangria was very good! Based upon the going rate downtown, the prices are standard. The Ribeye is the perfect amount for sharing. Making reservations over the phone was easy. Muu lives up to its reviews and then some. Top notch staff that makes the experience very personalized. The Tomahawk steak was the best steak I have ever had. Very small, intimate setting with only 10 or so tables. If you can get a reservation here, do so, you won't regret it. The only negative was that our first meal in Portugal was here and so the bar was set impossibly high the rest of the trip. Would return to Porto just to eat here again. The food was delicious, the ambience was cool but the absolute highlight was the service which was so thoughtful and genuine with a touch of sass - my fave! The burrata salad was so flavorful my husband is still raving about what you did to the tomatoes. We shared a T-bone. The vibe in the restaurant is fancy but still very comfortable and relaxed. The food and wine was top quality with good portions. I found this restaurant doing a Google search for top rated steakhouses. Before we left our hotel we checked with the concierge and they had indicated that there were no reservations as they had called earlier and that this is a very difficult place to get into without a reservation. At about 10:30 in the evening we decided to just drop by and see if there was any way we could be seated. Realizing now that they only have about a dozen tables of course all of them were full as they do two separate seatings. We decided to wait it out and just have a drink standing at their front door and see if we would be lucky. We waited for about 35 minutes and we were lucky enough to get a table to enjoy this experience. The service is most excellent and the food was on par for a five-star restaurant. I'm blown away by this place. Everything was excellent. We brought our baby with us, and from the beginning they were very accommodating and considerate of her. Muu by far treated her the best out of any restaurant we've been to with the baby (and we've been to many restaurants), giving her food on the side to make sure she was well fed. Wonderful place and lovely staff. Steak was delicious like butter. The end two bits of the steak were quite burnt and the portions could perhaps be a bit bigger but as we did not arrive super hungry it was ok for us. We are sure if we had raised the burnt issue the restaurant would have resolved it as they were very accommodating but we decided not to on this occasion. One of the best steak dinners I’ve ever had! Make reservations in advance! This place is popular, but small. The staff were super friendly, passionate, and anxious to deliver a great experience. The ribeye was easily sized for two people and excellently prepared. All of the accompanying dishes were wonderful. The wine selection is super and the staff anxious to make recommendations. We recently had dinner at this fabulous steakhouse while we were in Porto. The steakhouse is beautiful and we were welcomed with sparking wine. The staff is beyond incredible. They were friendly and attentive, yet always professional. Everyone there is your friend and the laughter filled the restaurant throughout our stay. Baneras, the manager, made it a point of coming out to sit with us and discuss both dinner and the port, both of which were absolutely delicious. Gabriel, the chef, also came to our table, sat down, discussed my allergies and came up with a dessert that I could actually eat. When we saw 4.9 star rating in google maps for this restaurant we thought it’s probably exaggerated. After we dined here I can say with confidence if there were a 6 star rating I would rate this restaurant with that. What a unique and great experience eating here. The server (including the chef who was on the floor as a server as well) were all so friendly and funny! They all had their own unique style, but made you feel so comfortable like they were welcoming us to their home. The food was fantastic, the steaks were mouth-watering, the sides had such complex flavors but went together really well, the desserts 'brought back memories of my grandmother' (you'll understand when you go there) who recently passed away. We didn't reserve at MUU, but we were incredibly lucky to secure a table as they had a reservation that didn't show up. Well...I can safely say that MUU lived up to their excellent reviews. The food and drinks were fantastic, but what really stood out was the high level of hospitality by the staff. We were served by the wonderfully welcoming and warm Deano, whose knowledge and recommendations were second to none. His service and attention to detail was no less than impeccable! It started with the email conversation trying to make reservations for this fantastic restaurant from the U.S. They were so kind in helping us. Booked here based on the good reviews and it lived up to all the expectations. It's a really cool restaurant with a team of staff who really enjoy working there and it shows in both the service and the quality of food. Everything on the menu sounds amazing but we tried the mixed seafood starter and the ribeye steak with a couple of sides. The steak was excellent, really good quality meat and cooked and seasoned perfectly and well worth the price. The menu choice is excellent and they have a really good wine list, they also do great cocktails. We were gifted a glass of sparkling wine on the way in, a little meat croquette and bread with two really good butters while you're browsing the menu and a complimentary taster of one of the desserts which were all really nice touches and much appreciated. My wife and I had the most memorable and enjoyable evening during our first visit at MUU. We were greeted at the bar and offered a glass of sparkling wine till a table opens up. We didn't wait longer than 2 minutes, so that was amazing. Our waiter that evening (Joao) took great care of us that evening. Always professional, but friendly, and always approachable he found out it was our last night in Porto and brought us appetizers and our dishes, cooked to perfection. He even gave us a bowl of fries on the house, which was unexpected (and truly yummy). It shows that the restaurant spares no expenses to go the extra mile. I know, I worked in upscale establishments like this and I was blown away by the whole experience. We will be back for sure the next time we are in Porto. we booked Muu months ahead knowing this place gets busy during the summer months.. we made an effort to make this reservation as we knew we would probably need a 'change of pace' in our restaurant selections from the usual portuguese di ing scene (our day 10). Muu did not disappoint even if our group of 4 only had 2 appetizers, a txuleton 900g (bone in ribeye), rice and creamed spinach. For us, the portions were ample and taste was superb. The Txuleton although a bit sinewy :( on some bites was really exhibiting natural 'beefy' taste. This is expected of grass fed cows and I had to let our group know that this is quite normal of european steaks.. Kudos as well on the side of rice with chorizo and parsely was just divine. Lastly, getting served by Joăo aka 'Antonio Banderas' made it quite an entertaining night for us. He was knowledgeable and helpful about the menu and the beef. He also made every effort that we were much obliged guests and even followed us out in the streets to say thank you! We will be back next time for sure! Incredible experience I found this accidentally and saw the reviews and thought I had to try. Got there with no reservation and they said they were fully booked in a kind way and offered another steakhouse. Gave me a card and everything. I never went there but something told me I had to try muu. Called and got a reservation, staff was extremely kind and welcoming and tried everything to make sure the experience was incredible. They sat next to you for minutes and made conversation I’ve never seen that in a busy restaurant before, every time you finished a meal they would immediately remove old cutlery and plates and replace them. The steak was juicy and fatty and so good every bite. I got the encrote. Normally a good steak is amazing the first few bites and then your taste buds get used to it. Not with this one you’ll keep being amazed every single bite. The steak could come with some extra vegetables or something if had to nitpick about anything. The starter I got was tartare and side spinach with cheese, every single dish was unforgettable I will come back when I come back to Porto I have not a shadow of doubt about this. One of the best dining experiences I’ve had! The food was amazing, but the service was on a whole different level. Every single member of the staff were so warm, friendly, and attentive that we genuinely felt special the entire time. From cooking our single steak to two different temps (to accommodate us and without our asking), to offering to re-warm our steak half way in, to the free sparkling wine, sides, and desserts thrown in (because we just have to try), we found ourselves audibly saying “wow” over and over. The staff is very friendly, almost too "buddy-buddy" - I felt discouraged asking them to re-do my main dish because I felt bad (like asking a friend to change the dinner she prepared for you at her home). Lucky lucky us…getting in without reservation!! We had to wait one hour for a table (10 pm > 11 pm), but got a starter and dessert from the house and were treated like real friends. The staff helped us with our choice of meat and wine and were treated so personable by each member of staff. The service here is 5*. I like the people in MUU more than the food. Maybe it’s the cut of the meat. We ordered ribeye for two as this is the only cut we order for steaks. The meat was super flavorful but very strainey. We definitely found the ribeye in Cumplice (which is owned by the same person) was a better cut. But, we would go back again to give it another try just because the people who work there are so nice! Eating at Muu Steakhouse was more than dinner, it was an entire experience. We arrived a little earlier than expected so we were greeted with a glass of their own Muu Steakhouse brand champagne while we were waiting for our table to clear. When our table was ready, we were guided to our table. At the table we were greeted by an appetiser, on the house. We weren’t sure what to eat so our waiter took the time to help us decide on what was best for our company by giving us some examples and stories of other guests. We ordered the T-bone steak, which was more than enough to share with 2, with a side of rice. The rice was of a pretty good quantity for 2 people but apparently we got slightly less than usual. You know how they fixed this? They gave us another portion of rice on the house. The staff kept on checking if everything was in order, if it wasn’t then they would’ve replaced it in a heartbeat. The food was amazing, the meat was cooked exactly like we asked and the portions matched with the description we got from our waiter. All in all an amazing experience, props to the owner and the staff for giving us the best culinary experience in Porto. I’ve attached some pictures of the food in this review but rest assured, it tasted even better than it looked. Seated right next to Tasco is a wonderful steakhouse called Muu. You should try to get a reservation. However, if they are fully booked (likely booked a week in advance for my visit) don’t fret, you can wait to see if they have no-shows with a nice glass of their in-house sparkling wine. The front of house staff is the best. They were very welcoming and were immaculate in decorum. Honestly, I have nothing negative to say about this place. The Tomahawk steak was cooked perfectly for my choosing (raw) and seasoned to perfection. Wine selection is broad and accommodating for every palate. Dessert was so simple yet so tasty. I have no idea what it was. There were hazelnuts and I forgot to take a picture, so apologies. Just go here. This is a great steak restaurant. But besides that we had a marvellous experience from the beginning to the end of the evening. The reception by Sofia made us come back and accept 2 hours waiting for a table. So book in advance. Firstly big thanks to the staff for squeezing us in last minute! I appreciate how hard this would have been as when we arrived at 7pm for opening there was a queue outside! The perfect service from all the members of staff, we were greeted warmly and offered to choose the table we wanted. We were given complimentary appetisers and a glass of fiz as we sat down. The waiters were amazing, talking us through the menu and informing us what they would recommend. We ordered a seafood starter and black Angus steak for the main course. Both incredible and big enough to share between two people. The steak was cooked to perfection and I can honestly say was possibly the best steak I have ever eaten. The wine pairing was perfect also. Icing on the cake when we asked for the cheque we were given a complimentary desert that resembled a birds nest including egg but in fact it was a triumphant mix of ice cream sponge and crispy wafer like twigs. We started with a glass of complementary champagne and delicious beef brisket crockett with a slight hint of mustard sauce. Wow what an experience. After a whole week in Porto with bad service and bad food, my wife and I were a bit burned out. On our last night in town, we happened across this restaurant. This is probably the best service I have received at a restaurant. Period. Regardless of price and geographical location. The waiters and waitresses were attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel more than welcome. We didn't finish our appetizers as we were saving our stomachs for the t-bone which we ordered as a main and our waitress was genuinely concerned we didn't like the food. The t-bone was done perfectly and had a nice smokey flavor. The meat was a bit more lean and chewy than what we are used to in North America however very flavorful. I had a great experience at Muu and would not hesitate to say one of my best ever. Great job Muu! Would definitely be back next time I am in Portugal. one of the best places you can go... We came twice to this place, and had both times the same meal (rib eye premium), which we will not repeat next time (see below). In a place like this, I should start by the problems. The wine list is somewhat expensive by portuguese standards, and the desert menu is somewhat limited (although they can get you some other extra deserts - but I will not reveal the details here). More that that, do not even consider coming here without a reservation - the restaurant is reasonably small - and be prepared to spend about 50€ per person for a (gorgeous) meal. Service is excellent. Attentive without being pushy, and they keep track of your previous preferences. They will try to cater to your specific tastes, and will offer you small pieces for you to try, if you are in doubts. Regarding food, we had the premium rib eye, several entrees (different types of potato, some vegetables, and the house rice - which is definitely a must have). This is great food - but it is too much, and overly fat. So a different mix is probably wiser, unless you have a very healthy appetite. Overall, a place to go and return. t is very easy to make MUU your lover ... so beautiful , you can take 1 hour watching the decor details, another hour listening the staff , the passion , the love , that they pass trough to you ... is more then a food experience , it is a hell of a ride with many fantastic sensations ! My steak was something from another galaxy , the wine was heaven , but the entrees and desserts were pure life !! Lover or just a deep moment with good thoughts , MUU is one of the best restaurants i ever experienced .
