  I went here because a friend recommended it to me. The fries were strangely soft, but still felt like quality, the sandwich, while simple, was delicious. Super juicy and tender. I don't know why, but these portugese, bifanah-style sandwiches always knock it ouf of the park for me. There is s definite lively 'diner-vibe' here, which I really enjoyed. Fx. When I entered there was a fight in the kitchen - nothing that disrupted the flow, so honestly I just found it quite funny.   It seems it floats on past reputation because the food wasn't to a point to become a Porto's restaurant shortlist. Pork sands were just fine: came cold and little to no seasoning. The croquettes were machine made somewhere else with the filling tasting frozen supermarket food, and also came cold. Same with the codfish cakes and fries. A shame. The green wine and the piripiri were good, but those are not their productions. We felt the place was cutting corners so not worth as a restaurant or tourist experience. Just pass on it.   Went here for a late lunch after our flight for a city trip. You order inside. The menu is on the wall. Ordered the porc sandwich with cheese. It is a very nice sandwich, warm with a lot of taste because of the cheese. We sat outside of on the terrace next to the parc. As drinks we took a glass of white house wine. When I returned the 2nd time, the waiter said something about the cook’/ fault which we didn’t like. We also had to change rooms due to having electronic music too laud for dinner time… and then the football on big screens. Not very cozy or local as expected. I won’t go back, pork is everywhere anyways.   The Sandes de Pernil Com Queijo da Serra (pork sandwich with cheese) is simply amazing..a little expensive by Portuguese standards (€7.5/sandwich) but I wager many tourists tend Casa Guedes given the location and the fact that I witnessed many dining. The outdoor patio is nice, and the area is lively and busy. I also had an espresso & Super Bock beer.   This place looked really cool, so we thought that we would try it out. We sat on the rooftop, which was fun, but it would’ve been better being on the edge for a better view. We ordered the traditional Francesinha sandwich, a small beer and a cola. The drinks came fast, but we ended up waiting 45 minutes for the food.   Look the meat was just great. But had better across Porto and the price doesn't do it a good favour as here is 5-7 and in other places a sandwich with fries included is 3-5.   I did not like the blood soup personally, though we had heard it was delicious. My friend really liked the sandwich #14; the port addition with caramelized onions added a nice flavor to it that was not too sweet. Our server was very good and polite, there was a man in suite probably the manager he was also very nice very welcoming greeting customers.   This is our second time here. The first time, we had dinner and drinks on the rooftop and we were not impressed by the food. The rooftop has great views as a great place to have some drinks. This time, we had lunch and it was pretty good. The atmosphere is fun and alive and they always have music playing which is nice. The service was pretty good for as busy as they where. We did not have reservations and got rooftop seats with no problem around 1 or so on a Saturday afternoon. We had moelas and burrata to start, 2 cocktails, glass of wine, padrão peppers, a Casa Guedes salad and bread for 58.40€, which I think is pricey. I'm not sure we will be back. Pairs well with a Super Bock…or frankly anything! Worth the wait in line (if there is a wait at all).   Honestly, run to this establishment. We went, a table of three, and were ushered in to the next available table. A wait of all of 3 minutes. Our server was ridiculously attentive and the food was impeccable. Really tasty bread, tender pork, arugula, cheese, caramelized onions.   The food was pretty good. We sat on the rooftop. The waiter was careless. He didn't attend to our table at all - was just chitchatting with the next table because they tipped him.   Had the famous Portuguese pork sandwich, handcut fries and glass of white wine for under €11. Seating outside on proper metal tables and chairs under large umbrellas. There is a menu with many choices. The pork is tender and carved for every order and there is an option to add cheese inside (we went with plain only). Fries were non-oily and munchable. Mayo, mustard and ketchup sachets given upon request. We found a couple of sachets were impossible to open - this happens every time we get sachets.   Best sandwiches ever. Super tender pork! Just pork in a sandwich with the meat juices is a perfect meal. We tried several varieties on our trip to Porto. The one with black pig sausage, one pineapple, one cheese and port onions. All delicious! I recommend one with meat and pineapple for a perfect combination of sweet and savoury.   Overpriced small cheese & pork sandwich. I don't understand the great reviews. I got a Pernil com quejo, one cod fritter and one fanta. Total : 10.50€!!! The Pernil was alright, but nothing special. I got a bifana earlier for 2€ at a different spot that was much better ! The cod fritter was very dry and boring. Maybe the taste and and style of food just wasn’t for me, but with all the hype, I was expecting something more decadent and complex.   It may not look like much in the photos but this is by far, the tastiest pork sandwich I’ve ever had which means a lot given that I usually prefer to avoid pork! Order the Pernil com queijo (pork with sheeps milk cheese). Today was our second time here this week, as it’s a great place for a quick sandwich if you’re saving yourself for a long sit down dinner.   I was advised to get the pork and cheese sandwich by a Portuguese friend. The sandwich was really good. The location is also great, the terrace especially. Unfortunately the service was very veeeery slow and the prices are a bit too high, the menu is a bit touristic maybe.   We went here with high expectations, having read reviews and seeing videos of others visiting this restaurant. Unfortunately for us, the reality was not quite the same. We ordered the pork sandwich with sheep cheese. It was alright, but nothing special. It also wasn't very hot when we got it. We also ordered fries with the sandwich, and decided to try the bacalhau with sheep cheese. We had to ask about the bacalhau a second time, as it didn't come out with the rest of the food. When we did get it after 15/20 minutes of waiting, it wasn't even cooked through- in fact, it was still near-frozen in the center. On top of this, it was 2.50€ for a SINGLE, golf ball sized portion. After letting the waiter know, we waited another 15 minutes for a new one, and it was just "meh". Not worth waiting 30 minutes for..that's for sure. For the portion size and price (5.90€) of the sandwich, we thought it wasn't worth it at all. Just do yourself a favor and go to Conga for a bifana. A better pork sandwich at literally half the price.   Came here to try one of the famous sandwiches. Ended up getting more than one sandwich. A lot more than one. I'm both embarrassed and proud to admit! In fact, I lost count. I do remember walking out of there in a haze of happiness and warm comfort. During my time at Porto, this probably the place I visited most. I have never been a huge sandwich guy but the #14 here will change your life. This restaurant has been here for 50 years and will stay for another 50! #14 Chef Guedes sandwich is the best sandwich I have ever had. Roasted pork, Onion in red wine reduction, brie cheese and argula make the most delicious combination ever. #12: It is a watered down version of 14 but really good as well and without the cheese. If you like something simple, I recommend the #8. Simple meat and cheese. We also tried the tapas that keep on bringing. Really liked the pastry stuffed with minced pork and the Bacalao fritters.   I never write reviews, but... I've been in Portugal for a month and this is by far my favourite place to eat. This is my second time at this location, but I also ate at their other locations (rooftop location has a really nice view to people watch). Try the number 8 or the number 14. Honestly, anything on the menu is good. You won't be disappointed. Melt in your mouth meat and cheese (Noms). Also, the price point is really good. If you go to this OG location. You pay at the front counter and they will give you a receipt with your order number. A server will call out your order number (in Portuguese) then serve it to you at the table you've selected. Other locations have full dine in service. **If you're by yourself, I recommend ordering 1/2 size portion of fries cuz the fries portion is large.   Amazing! One of the best places I’ve been in Porto. Besides having great food, I was treated to an amazing team that cared for all my requests and went above and beyond to make us happy!   My boyfriend and I made a little Porto city Trip in August, he has been many times but it was my first time. He showed me his favourite places, one of which was Casa Guedes. We had the little “sandwiches” which are absolutely beautiful. Being a real meat lover, he couldn’t get enough of the simplicity and beauty of their speciality. Fresh ingredients, beautifully put together and the whole place has a really nice atmosphere too. Traditionally, the food nicely pairs with a cold Super Bock. You almost feel like one of the locals! Couldn’t recommend this place more. A must see (and eat!) when in Porto.   You can’t visit Porto and miss this place. A bit of queue but it goes fast. The pork sandwich is just amazing, super juicy. Try the version with sheep cheese, it brings even more flavor. A must.   Not busy at all on Monday at 4:30! High rating for a reason: great food! We got a #1, #8, French fries, and 2 Cokes. Our bill was 13.50€. Sandwiches are great, but small. We went back for another round. The French fries were soggy. There are only a few tables inside, but outdoor seating on the side of the building. Order two for yourself saves lining up again. You pick up your drinks when you order and I think you grab a table and tell the outside waiter your number and he will bring you order when it is ready or you wait at the counter like a bunny as I did.   Best pork in town! Was recommended by a local friend and went out of our way to go. Very small shop and I've heard there's often a line but this wasn't the case for us. Sandwiches a little pricey but worth every penny. Delicious chips and sangria too. Bathroom onsite. Would recommend two sandwiches as they aren't that big.   Superb slow cooked pulled pork sandwiches , rustic bread - recommend the pulled pork & either Portuguese saucesge or black ham . We had 4 sandwiches , hand cut fries and drinks , including bottle of house white ( this was a very young wine with a slight natural fizz , quite like the French Muscadet sur lie ..... but at 6€ ! ) all for 27€ .   Magnificent sandwiches, meat is so tender you can dive into it and relax. Bread is sooo crispy. Nice people, maybe lacking a bit in English, but you will manage to get what you want.   This place is amazing. Local, fresh, tasty. I visited Porto twice and Casa Guedes was one of the top places I stopped for dinner. I'm a sandwich fiend and this was one of the greatest sandwiches of all time - roasted, savoury, juicy suckling pig with melted portugese soft cheese from the heat of the drippings.   Yummy!!! Still, excellent sandwich with pork and cheese. Minor downside: the traditional team behind the counter has disappeared (most of the day at least). The ambience has, hence, changed. Those elderly and friendly guys that used to slice the meat and bread were the soul of the place. The new guy with the knife, Pedro, brings his personality to the place. And to go get him the credit: He is a very forthcoming and friendly host. We felt very welcome and got some great ideas for the rest of our trip. And the quality of the food is still excellent, even with the new team. The soul is just being re-created. Can't wait to come again. Keep up the great tradition, Pedro!
