  Atlantico is quite simply wonderful: if you are looking for seafood you get it here. The fishing boats are outside, the fishermen form a flotilla and head out around 19.00 to deliver the catch the next morning. It’s fun to watch them prepare as it seems like organised chaos. It probably is. Back to Atlantico. I ate here 2 nights running. You can read others testifying to the tuna and sesame. Begin with the octopus salad. Take your tune rare. Spend 30 euro on a bottle of wine they will recommend and enter the hallows of a sea food swim fest. Night 2 spicy prawns and octopus on a bed of veggies. And now, surprise potatoes that are flat button like. Yummy hardly covers it. My wines are in the photos. Language is only a problem if you slur. Parking nothing easier. Conviviality well convivial.   This restaurant no longer has sushi at all. The hostess and the server, Michael, were very pleasant. Excellent service. However, the restaurant is overpriced relative to other restaurants we visited during our two week visit. When we arrived at 7p we were seated and immediately noticed the sound of construction upstairs. Electric saws, hammering, loud talking, etc. We asked if it would be stopping and the server told us he was trying to get the owner to stop. It did not stop. I got octopus for an appetizer. It was flavorless and not seared at all. Boring. We were halfway through a bottle of wine and I had enough of the noise. I went upstairs myself and politely asked the owner and his helper to stop working or we would need to leave. I wasn’t paying top dollar to listen to this noise. It was absolutely absurd. The owner gave me a disdainful look and turned away. Later he came to my table and apologized but it was obligatory and I said no problem and offered my hand to shake as a gesture.   Great time overall. Had a couple local draft beers, shared chicken sausage tempura (spicy, but flavorful), and the each had an entrée (local baked fish with mixed veggies and black linguini with various seafood). Finished with a slice of pineapple. We were told it was quite not in season yet, but still enjoyed it with some strawberry compote/sauce. Lovely second floor view of the coast.   We poked our heads in the door during the mid afternoon break and the manager waved us in and his brother kindly showed us to a table on the second floor looking out over the harbour. Friendly recommendations for appetizers and drinks and our food order was placed with the kitchen. While we waited we had a lovely chat with the friendliest people. Very personable. The most delicious food arrived and we settled in to enjoy a pair of perfect sirloins with all the fixings and a rice pudding dessert. Well recommended.   Comida de qualidade e bem apresentada. Preços acima da média e racio preço qualidade não favorável. Copos de vinho 6 €: ridículo! O meu, aliás, foi enchido muito pouco... e o alvarinho que me deram era alentejano. Isso não é tratar bem os clientes, é explorá-los. Posso voltar caso corrijam o erro e apresentem desculpas. PS. ontem comi num lugar humilde no mesmo conselho... Um copo de vinho 1 €, era generosi e bom. Não digo de chegar a tanto mas por 6 €, que fica caro na mesma, no mínimo a taça deve ser enchida e com vinho de boa qualidade.

  O melhor restaurante que temos na ilha. Certamente um pouco mais caro, mas de qualidade claramente superior. Tudo estava perfeito, a comida, o ambiente e o serviço. Os pratos são generosos e a equipe cuida muito bem. Vinho dos Açores muito bom e ambiente musical “jazz lounge” muito agradável ao fundo. Trate o seu paladar e vá em frente!

  We had food at this restaurant for lunch, it was FANTASTIC. We were a group of 4 and all of us were happy with our food. I had the tuna steak, very tasty. I also ordered the panacota dessert, it was great, not to sweet just right! Don’t be confused by the google maps view of the restaurant’s facade they haven’t update it.   Absolutely delicious prawns in garlic for starters (enough for 2), and perfectly cooked ribeye steak and parrot fish. The last two were served with grilled, mixed vegetables. It took about 45 min to get our starter but worth the wait. The server was very friendly and helpful and spoke French and English fluently. Reservation recommended.   Avoid as plague. I think this is one of the worse experiences I had in a restaurant in my whole life. The guy at the front door, whoever he is, is rude as hell. Twice we went and he gave us rude responses as of booking and stuff. We arrived at 8, ordered sushi and at 9 the waitress came saying that the chef was too busy and the restaurant was full and he couldn't make it - one hours after ordering!! So we order some pasta and the octopus. It came after 40 minutes and still after 90 minutes we didn't have our drinks in the table. I had to tell the waitress off to bring the damn drinks at least - 90 minutes waiting there idle with not even a drink? The octopus arrived and it was chewy as hell. I'm from Galicia and I have octopus in all shapes and forms constantly, and this was not a good octopus by any stretch of the imagination. Then the pasta had a watery sauce that tasted to nothing and the salmon and mussels were extremely overcooked and dry as the dessert. Desserts were decent at least.   Organisation: We had a reservation but got a table next to a wall? although the restaurant was almost empty as we arrived. After us some other couples arrived who had no reservation and got a table at the window...This made no sense to us at all! Food: it was ok, but the Tuna Steak came with a chutney which was way too sweet for the fish. The portions were very small for that price. Especially compared to other restaurants in this area. We were looking forward to the sushi but interestingly they didn't have it... Service: The waitress was very nice and attentive. However the manager was quite unfriendly. We got the impression that they wanted to get rid of us as fast as possible to rebook the table. We haven't finished our first course when the main dish already arrived. The manager took our plates so fast and replaced it directly with the main course. this is not a fast food restaurant and still this was our impression. For the prices we expected higher quality on all levels and would not recommend this restaurant.   The restaurant is really good. The food is amazing, is located really good. The staff is really cool making jokes. But, be careful, if you want to eat sushi you won't be able to eat them on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and you have to order the chef for the time you come ( I went there one Wednesday to try sushi, they are really worth it). Also the food was very good, i had the kebap with vegetables and chips, quality was perfect and i would have ordered some more food if i still could.   This was the spot I was waiting for! Truly top notch food and atmosphere. We did a mixed tasted of everything. The fish and sushi was outstanding! The steak was really good as well but just not nearly as amazing as the fish and sushi. I wish I could have tried more different types of menu items. But we were soooooo full. 5 adults and 2 kids are what you see in the photos. Side note: Even my portuguese in laws who have never wanted to try sushi, tried it. And loved it.   Dinner for two on a busy Saturday night without reservations. The staff told us to come back in an hour and hope for an open table, and it all worked out. Great wine list. The service was excellent, the waiter was attentive though busy (managing up to 7 tables by himself). It’s easier to be patient when on vacation… the food was amazing. I had the steak and sushi, both fresh and perfectly cooked. The mussel appetizer was a little dry, though maybe mussels aren’t the best regional seafood. The octopus entree was also delicious. Would definitely recommend. It cost us 100 euros for an appetizer, 2 entrees and 2 glasses of wine. You get what you pay for, excellent quality.   High end restaurant right at the harbor. Beautiful inside, sophisticated, classy, elegant vibes. Bit pricey but in my opinion worthy for the food you get: fresh fish, delicious local wine (wide selection) and diverse menu. We had garlic bread, appetizer which they forgot (not a big deal), the tuna steak and tomahawk steak (which was humongous 😅). The reason why I give 4 and not 5 stars is the attitude/vibes I got from the owner/staff. They were not very welcoming, it’s not that they were rude or something but they were somewhat cold. The waitress was smiling and not talking much, the owner was observing the tables (totally normal) but didn’t react to obvious things unless asked. The care and attention to the customer was missing a little bit. He also asked at the end “don’t you want to leave us a tip?”, which I found somewhat pushy: leaving a tip varies per culture and is in my view totally up to the customer to do so.   Incredible restaurant! Run by a small team of lovely professionals. Dining is on the second floor. The manager spoke to us personally and he was a wonderful individual. Wish I could give it 10 stars. A local came by and told us it was too expensive, but he was full of ****, it is as affordable as the other restaurants in the area and the food is considerably better.   A must do on Sao Miguel! A superb location overlooking the marina, attentive service, but especially the food. Our first visit was so great we returned for a second meal during our 3 week stay in Villa Franco do Campo. Our taste buds were delighted with our menu choices of tuna steak, beef sirloin, red snapper and rib eye steak. The desserts were equally delicious. The restaurant decor is lovely, and menu choices very affordable. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone travelling to Sao Miguel.   Fantastic restaurant. The setting is lovely and the food is great - the steak, the fish of the day, the lapas, the garlic bread (very fresh and crispy), the wine. The sushi also looks excellent and is very popular at the restaurant. Michael (our server) was also a highlight - he is welcoming, knowledgeable, professional, and a pleasure to speak with. If you are going to eat at the restaurant, you will likely need a reservation, since they are popular and fill up quickly (best way to make reservation is to call them on the phone). You have to make a reservation if you're going here - even in the off season or during the week, as it seems to be popular with both locals and tourists alike. To get sushi, you absolutely have to reserve in advance or there is a huge wait, which made ordering pretty confusing since that wasn't explained in advance.   One of the best restaurant I have tried in Portugal. They have a great menu with a good variety of fresh seafood including green mussels, fish of the day ( I recommend the white seabream), grilled octopus, and a great collection of desserts with some ingredients from the island like green tea and mint.   This is easily the best restaurant meal we have had on Sao Miguel. The food and the service were phenomenal. The chef was talented in a way that seems to be disappearing lately : not only high quality suited to a top restaurant, but familiar in the way the best home meals from talented older generations can be. I have not had octopus as tender as I have just had from anyone I was not related to. From the appetizers to the deserts, we were impressed. I would like to recommend this restaurant to anyone local or visiting, Vila Franca. When travelling, we go to restaurants, not just to be fed, but to experience the best of local cuisine.   This was a really nice discovery in the little harbour of Villa Franca. The squid salad I had was divine! The best I had ever eaten. The fish was very fresh as well, served with delicious sweet potatoes. The location is very beautiful: the restaurant is overlooking the ocean and the islet of Villa Franca do Campo.   We visited at lunch but got talking to a couple who were raving about the tuna and the creme briulle as they were leaving. We decided on the mixed sausages and pineapple. simply amazing. the flavours were fantastic. For main we had the tuna and the catch of the day which was red snapper. Both dishes were seasoned perfectly and the fish mixed with a little of the sweet potato was great. the Tuna and the pineapple chutney was very special. In the UK this would not have been out of place in a michelin restaurant costing 3 times as much. I wont forget to mention the homemade deserts. The best pineapple cake and creme bruille we have ever tasted. Thank you Atlantico for sharing your skills and flavours. A must to visit if you are in the area.
