  A local guide recommended we go to Conga to try the bifana. Unfortunately it was really not to our taste, the white bun was soggy and oily, the meat did not taste fresh and had some hard bits and the sauce somehow had zero flavour to it whilst being incredibly spicy. We could not eat it (thankfully it was cheap…) The service was fast but the restaurant was not exactly inviting, with very bright lights, a soccer game playing in the background and a weird smell.   From the outside looking in, it doesn’t seem like much and looks small. However, once you go inside, there’s actually an extra floor with an additional dining area. My family (party of 6) were on our own mini food crawl and trying some restaurants in the area. We came in on a Monday at around 5:30 and it wasn’t too busy (I imagine the Portugues probably eat later, like many other European countries). We ordered one bifana with cheese and one without. I thought it was just okay. I liked the meat, which was tender but the cheese wasn’t it. Maybe it’s because it wasn’t melty enough. The bread was also a bit too soggy. But the Super Bock stout I tried was good and a nice complement to the sammie. There’s another bifana place kind of closeby which I prefer but if you’re in the area, need a quick bite, it’s convenient to just grab one from the counter downstairs.   I went to try a budget meal here, ordered Bifana(thin pork pieces sandwich in spicy sauce) , it cost 2.5euros, not in big size but good enough for lady, tasty n cheap price, plus a soup n 7up, total cos 6.7euros. A lot of locals eat there. The staff are very friendly, because I can’t eat too spicy, so they gave me less spicy sauce that they can. Like a fast food but good service.   This place is famous for their bifanas and was recommended on our walking tour it was excellent - soft bun and pork meat and not too spicey. We also ate the Francesinha a conga which tastes a lot like bacon/eggs in a sauce. Preferred the bifana. We waited a little while to be seated as it’s very popular but the queue is well managed.   We flew in from overseas and they were just about to close. The gentleman at the door let us order our sandwiches to go. The bifanas were amazing as always. Here's my take on some of the negative reviews. First, this place is known for their bifanas. That's what they do really really well. If your burger, hotdog or Turkey isn't to your liking - you probably should have gone to another restaurant or fast food establishment, for that matter. Second, tourism is the bread and butter of Portugal. This place is located in a tourist district - that means you will likely find crowds and unfortunately be over charged for some things. That's true of any tourist location around the world. Lastly, don't be a jerk and complain that the staff don't speak English. Respect the culture your visiting. Learn the language, use a translator or don't go at all. Wait one more thing.....be sure to order at least two bifanas, I promise you wont regret it.   Heard about bifanas since a while ago and my bf finally brought me here for this street food. Met my expectation, juicy and a bit spicy pork bun, ordered one with cheese one without. Cheese one? Don’t bother, can barely taste the cheese so same as the original but a bit more expensive. I ordered the classical cheapest sandwich since I don’t want cheese. unfortunately I don’t like the taste(strange smell, I guess it’s from the pig, maybe not fresh based on my experience ) of the pork but the sauce is good.   Great place to eat a typical Bifana. I don’t put 5 stars just because the “Pão do queijo” (cheese bread) is not bread make with cheese but the normal bifana with a slice of cheese. However, it was a nice meal (a bit spicy for me must say).   Really tasty sandwitches. The Francesinha says 🌶🌶 (2 chilies) of spiciness, but it wasn’t that spicy (which it’s good, because I struggle with spicy food like Thai food…). It was quite salty, though, so better accompanied with fried potatoes and some cold drink. It’s funny that in the menu they say spicy food is very good for health and to prevent heart attacks (read attached photo), because the Francesinha didn’t feel very healthy 😂 With all that meat and salt you may have a heart attack even if it has chilies in it 🙈 It’s worth taking the risk 😁 (Traduzido pelo Google) Sandwitches realmente saborosos.   This place is a must try for bifanas. We got here as we head they have the best bifanas in town and they did not disappoint! A few things to know before going: 1. If you go at night you will likely have to wait quite long for a table. It's definitely worth the wait just be prepared ( we waited about 25min) 2. They will check your covid certificate. Not sure if they do this for everyone or only tourists but be prepared and have your on hand. 3. Once you order you won't have to wait long for food, we'd recommend deciding while you wait in line to be seated. 4. We heard is less busy in the early afternoon, so might be worth a visit the You must try the bifana, they are quite small so if you are hungry i'd recommend ordering 2 or getting the baguette version.   The Bifanas were certainly good. Weren't quite as spicy as I would have thought after all of the other reviews. If you order the Bifanas no prato com batatas, get them to hold up on the sauce as it was a little too much oil through the chips which made them not enjoyable.
